I was super honoured by a very flattering press release from my former school, Northern Lakes College, recently. You can read it here, if you like.
I’d encourage anyone pursuing the arts to start your education at a smaller (economical!) school such as Northern Lakes College. If there isn’t a lot of money to be made in your industry, why spend a lot of money to get in? Northern Lakes College is still a progressive and active campus with passionate and knowledgable teachers who boast instructional experience from the U of A (a school I was accepted into, but decided against in order to maintain some semblance of financial independence).
My second career-wise education tip? Combine that English degree with courses on self-promotion, public relations, or marketing. You gonna need it, kid.
